Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, this position will have responsibility for application oversight for the Graduate School programs. This includes recruiting prospective students, nurturing inquiries to result in applications, coordinating the application process; attending recruitment fairs and events; and actively managing a personal contact campaign via multiple mediums to assure exceptional service. The position requires evening and weekend work, flexible hours and travel. This position can be based at either the main campus in Potsdam or the Capital Region Campus in Schenectady. If based in Potsdam, the role will work remotely (from the Potsdam Campus) with the rest of the team based at the Capital Region Campus. Note: If the role is filled in Potsdam, an extended period of time (2-4 weeks) may be required to be spent at the Capital Region Campus at the start of the role for training purposes. If the role is filled in Schenectady, the same period of time may be required at the Potsdam Campus.
• Partner with the VP in the on-going development, planning, implementation and assessment of recruitment strategies, tactics, policies and processes.
• Independently utilize inquiry and applicant data to formulate decisions supporting strategies to meet enrollment goals. Use creative thinking and decision making skills to identify and select enrollment growth opportunities.
• Exercise professional judgement to research and prospect high quality graduate program candidates; use consultative selling skills to convert prospective
• students to completed applicants using communication plans that integrate in person appointments, outbound and inbound phone calls, and emails. Use problem solving skills to identify prospective student needs and the appropriate Clarkson educational solution.
• Plan and execute on-campus and off-campus recruiting and yield events such as graduate fairs, career fairs, individual school visits, webinars, and information sessions. Travel to various recruiting events and universities to market graduate programs to prospective students. This includes coordinating logistics, presenting and assisting with content development, Travel to various recruiting events and universities to market graduate programs to prospective students.
• Use professional judgment to consult with inquiries and applicants for graduate programs to ensure quality, assist and convert them throughout the application process, facilitate correspondence between prospective students, the faculty, and staff when appropriate. Ensure accurate application data in Slate to assist with recruitment, enrollment and revenue tracking and reporting; maintain security of sensitive information and uphold Clarkson values.
• Regularly receive and answer communications from inquiries and applicants outside of regular work hours.
• Interacts with internal and external partners (e.g. career services, advisors, department chairs, etc.) to support and expand recruitment relationships and opportunities such as 4+1 agreements. Research and coordinate with Director possible new agreements and relationships.
• Conduct event and visit ROI analysis.
• Assists with other projects, administrative duties and initiatives as assigned.
• Position to include up to 50% travel with overnight travel required.
Education:
Minimal Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Higher Education Leadership, Business, or another related field from a regionally accredited institution strongly preferred
Experience:
Minimal Qualifications: 3 years' experience in a sales/recruiting oriented or higher education role with demonstrated competence
• Ability to maintain in depth knowledge and effectively articulate the value and benefits of the University and its various graduate program offerings and admission requirements, keeping up to date with new programs and varying admission requirements across schools, programs, and partner agreements
• Self-direction, ability to pro-actively seek out opportunities and execute upon them
• Knowledgeable of trends, challenges and opportunities in adult and online education, and demonstrate vision and enthusiasm for building a successful overall program
• Consultative selling skills
• Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
• Must be willing to travel extensively, work evenings and weekends and have a valid driver's license
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to become technically proficient with Slate
• Comfort with and willingness to be accountable for recruiting goals
• Independent thinking. decision making and problem-solving ability
• Strong project management and critical thinking skills, highly organized, attention to detail and self-motivated
• Ability to quickly learn new tools, technologies, and processes
• Experience with Slate preferred
• Must be a team player with collaborative working style
• If based in Potsdam, previous experience working remotely or at a satellite location preferred
